Maaike Zurcher ART - WORK BEFORE 2017 - landscape/cityscape

Almost all landscapes/cityscapes give a distorted view of 'reality'. The paintings reflect my own ideas and concerns with the environment we create as human beings. My colourful paintings stand in stark contrast with the reality I live in.

I have created my own landscape by exaggerating the effects of human influence on nature.</p>

All the senses seem to be extra sensitive; smell, taste, vision, touch and sound seem to melt together.</p>

The huts are existing of cardboard, plastic bags, corrugated metal and other scrap material. Dominant colours: shades of purple, green, blue, red. </p>

<strong>SOLD</strong><br><p>Isla de Ometepe II</p><br><p>mixed media on deep edge canvas<br />50 x 50 x 4 cm<br /><br />In 2014 I went to Nicaragua as a translator Spanish - Dutch for 'micro credit' projects for women. In my spare time I visited Isla de Ometepe an island in Lake Nicaragua. The vulcanos dominate the tropical island.</p>
